Buying
What should I be paying?
Compared to something like a Porsche 718 Cayman or Alpine A110, the Lotus will be harder to get on with day-to-day, but more rewarding as an experience when you want to grab it by the scruff of the neck and drive the thing.
It’s loud, small and difficult to get in and out of. But it's dead easy to manoeuvre and do distance in, with less road noise than even a well-equipped Cayman. If you do struggle with getting in and out, there is the option to have a Roadster so you can post yourself in. But then be prepared to get a bit wet or faff around with a tonneau cover.
Not that it’ll be your primary concern if you’re in the market for a blisteringly quick road-racer, but the Exige will return 27 mpg and splurt out 240 g/km. But it should hold its value well.
