Lexus NX review

There are two powertrain options to choose from when it comes to your new NX – the 350h ‘self-charging’ hybrid or the 450h+ plug-in hybrid. Both of those then come in either Premium, Premium Plus, F Sport or Takumi spec with the possibility of a sunroof if you like looking at the sky at traffic lights, or something.

The range starts at £39,750 for the bog-standard 350h NX with front-drive, and up to £59,700 for a 450h+ Takumi with a sunroof. The plug-in hybrid works out at a £6k–8k premium on top of the standard hybrid, but the lower CO2 figure has a big impact on your company car BIK rates. Go for the PHEV and you can enjoy a benefit-in-kind rate of just seven per cent, which will no doubt make the car particularly compelling to people on company car schemes.

If you’re looking at purchasing on finance then Lexus has an online calculator that you can play around with: a deposit of £5,000 on a Premium-spec 350h unlocks monthly repayments of £491 over a four-year term, with annual mileage capped at 10,000. Step up to the plug-in hybrid with the same deposit and you're looking at £660 per month.

We found the 350h averaged 40mpg in urban driving, but if your mileage mainly involves motorway running then mid-30s to the gallon are more likely. 

All of the NXes come with dual zone climate control, reversing camera, wireless Apple and Android phone connectivity, a 360 degree camera, powered tailgate, LED ambient lighting and heated, electrically adjustable seats as standard. The 14in interior touchscreen, matrix headlamps, HUD, electric seats and the blind-spot/safe-exit system are standard on everything above the mid spec.
