Buying
What should I be paying?
Your main choices when speccing are the colour, and whether or not to add the £5,850 Sport Plus pack to the £97,345 base price. Ouch: this car went on sale at £90k, so that's a big leap.
Said pack adds 21-inch wheels, semi-aniline leather and the neck-warmers in the seats, plus the limited-slip diff. A limited edition ‘Blue Regatta’ model was sold out before the car even reached the UK, but is a top prize spot in the classifieds. Special mention for the 13-speaker hi-fi: it comes close to rattling the trim. No mean feat in a Lexus.
Reckon on averaging around 25mpg, versus a claim of 24mpg (really), and seeing around 370-400 miles per tank. And it’ll probably be fairly reliable, since Lexus is to ownership satisfaction surveys what Tom Cruise is to improbable stunts. Just because it’s been at the top for years, shouldn’t make it any less remarkable.
