Buying
What should I be paying?
You ask a straightforward question, so here’s a straightforward answer: the KGM Actyon costs £36,995. That’s it. The sole K50 trim gets everything on it, so no need to worry about stepping up a level for heated this or keyless that.
Your only decision is what paint to have it in: Grand White, Space Black, Iron Silver, Forest Green (Rovers?) and our personal favourite – because of the name – Dandy Blue. Sounds like the lead character in a short-lived sitcom.
Right. What do I get for my not-quite 37 Gs?
The highlights (and we use that word loosely) are heated seats all round, with ventilated fronts for good measure, those 12.3in dual screens, USB-C charging front and rear, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, intelligent adaptive cruise control, a rear-view camera and 360-degree view system, plus numerous cuts of nappa leather. Can’t beat a bit of fancy leather. The Actyon rides on diamond-cut 20s.
Useful-to-knows are parking sensors front and rear, LED headlights (with automatic high beam) and taillights, rain sensing wipers, an e-parking brake, rear passenger sunblinds, keyless entry, heated door mirrors, a powered tailgate that you can open by waggling your foot under it, dual-zone climate control and six speakers.
In our 90 minutes with the car we had no qualms about the gadgets themselves, with the exception of the lane keep assist – it's wayward and intrusive, and you’ll want to turn it off immediately.
Gotcha. Anything else?
The Actyon comes with a five-year/100,000-mile warranty. Service intervals are every 12 months or 10,000 miles. Claimed CO2 is 194g/km. Er, um… it falls into insurance group 25A. Yes, we are running out of things to say.
Can it tow?
Yes! Towing, we can talk about towing. Briefly. It can lug up to 1.5 tonnes, which is a fair amount of trailer and/or caravan.
