Buying
What should I be paying?
Prices start at £13,420 for the entry level SE-spec i10, which is only available with the 1.0-litre 3cyl. You get good kit, like a DAB radio, Bluetooth, air conditioning, electric windows, heated electric mirrors and cruise control, but you’ll want to move up to at least SE Connect. If you’re looking at a monthly lease for your i10 there’s barely a few pounds between both specs, starting at around £205 a month.
If you’re paying list price then £14,420 for the SE Connect adds alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a rearview parking camera and speakers in the back. Stump up yet another £1,000 for Premium spec (starts at £15,420) and you get bigger 16in alloys, fancier headlights with LED DRLs, fog lights, heated seats and steering wheel and posher interior trim. A 1.0-litre Premium car with manual gearbox will cost around £230 a month on a lease deal.
SE Connect and Premium cars get the option of the bigger 1.2-litre engine, although it comes at an £800 premium. Likewise cars fitted with the five-speed auto cost £500 more to buy outright than the equivalent manuals. The i10 you want is the SE Connect, with the big engine and manual gearbox, which costs £15,220 or around £220 on a monthly lease.
Feeling sporty? Go for the N Line and get the most potent engine and much fashionable interior trim. Or don't, it costs £16,795 and that really is overdoing it.
All new i10s come with Hyundai’s handy five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
Running costs will be tiny – the dirtiest i10 emits 130g/km (the auto adds a few grams) of CO2 and the cleanest 119g/km, so they’re all in the same VED band, and in day-to-day driving they should all manage fuel economy in the mid-40 to low-50mpgs mpg without issue. As for safety, all i10s get overzealous lane keep assist, high-beam assist and a forward collision warning system with emergency city braking. There’s also tyre pressure monitoring and hill start assist.
