What is it like on the inside?

The Mustang has four surprisingly comfortable seats and loads of storage space, too. So it’s practical, if not exactly economical. During a week of dailying a Mach 1, we managed an average of just under 15mpg. Ouch. But hey, it’s an almost 500bhp V8 that sounds like it could stop traffic – we hardly expected Prius economy figures. 

Anyway, back to the interior. There's not actually too much to report here – it's all standard Mustang GT fare just with the addition of some Mach 1 cosmetic upgrades. The Instrument panel gets an aluminium-accented makeover, there are accent stripes on the seats, new sill plates and an engraved badge with the car’s chassis number.

There’s also optional Recaro seats which are well worth the £1,900 asking price if you’re after a little more support. 

The cabin is trimmed in plenty of leather, and although it doesn’t feel super premium there’s everything you could ask for. The graphics on the Sync 3 central infotainment screen are a little dated, but there’s a full climate control panel and lots of physical buttons so you don’t actually need to dive into the menus all that often. Spec the manual and you also get that lovely cue-ball gearknob.

The dials are displayed on a 12-inch screen which is perfectly clear and offers much customisation. Ford has coded in some different looks for the Track and Drag drive modes, but the dials are best in their round standard state.
