Buying
What should I be paying?
If you’re buying as a company car you’ll no doubt be looking at the 530e with its claim of 188.3mpg for rear-wheel drive and 156.9mpg with all-wheel drive. CO2 emissions of between 35 and 47g/km mean it does well on the Benefit in Kind banding lottery, and if you plug in enough you'll probably manage over 70mpg in real world driving.
Strong residuals for all 5 Series Tourings help whether you're a cash buyer or doing PCP or lease. Insurance and servicing are pretty well on the benchmark too.
So it makes money sense. But the main ownership benefit is the deep-rooted satisfaction that this car will do anything with such ease. It's utterly user-friendly. Especially in standard trim. Only when you start to pile on the driver assist options do its controls and behaviour need more learning. Spec it with this in mind, we say.
