Audi TT Coupe review

As of May 2023, a base, ‘S line’ Audi TT 40 TFSI – with the 195bhp engine and front-wheel-drive, will start from £36,365. The Black Edition kicks off from just under £38k, while the Final Edition starts from just under £42k. For the more powerful 240bhp versions – badged ‘45’ – all get quattro and across the above mentioned trims, cost from £41k/£42k/£46k. So you’ll pay a premium for speed.

The Black Edition TT S starts from £49,740 and gets 20in wheels, a fixed rear spoiler and the ‘Black Styling Pack’ as standard. Step up to the £54,685 Final Edition, and that adds different 20s, red calipers, the comfort and sound pack and metallic paint.

Want more sound (and speed)? Around £60k gets you into the very fully-blown five-cylinder TT RS – a fair chunk of change for a thunderous turn of speed. Not the most engaging car, but point-to-point, it’s fairly devastating.

S line cars are fairly spartan, but handsome – 19in wheels, leather seats… and that’s about it. Black and Final Edition cars get the Virtual Cockpit as standard, along with bigger wheels and more paint finishes of course, while Audi is more than happy to hose you down for a number of options of course. Pick and choose carefully.

Otherwise it’s fairly simple to run: the 2.0-litre engines give decent economy, while even that mighty five-pot is capable of returning some 30mpg on a mixed route of fast B-roads and motorway drudgery. That might dip into the teens, mind, should you find a nice, long tunnel…
