Audi Q3 Sportback review

Prices start at £32,440 for the 1.5-litre 35 TFSI manual. But of course they aren’t available from launch, so until the end of the year the cheapest Q3 Sportback you can actually buy will cost around £38K. At the top of the range, you’re looking at almost £50,000 for a quick(ish) one with all the bits. Spec for spec, the Sportback is around £1,150 more expensive than the equivalent Q3. 

At least all versions get lots of standard kit. LED headlights, the Virtual Cockpit dials and big MMI infotainment screen are all thrown in. So too is a load of safety tech including lane departure warning, AEB and traffic sign recognition. The range goes Sport, S-Line, Edition 1 and finally Vorsprung. S-Line is probably the sweet spot - most of the cosmetic upgrades with much of the tech, and you can still option-in the £1,195 Comfort & Sound or £800 Driver Assistance packs if you want. Edition 1 is a blacked-out special available only for a limited time after launch, while Vorsprung is loaded to the gunnels. 

As with prices, economy and efficiency figures aren’t confirmed for all engines/specs. We know the 35 TFSI with the manual should get 39.8 to 41.5mpg and 132 to 137g/km depending on wheel size, while the 45 TFSI manages between 32.1 and 31.4 mpg and 171 to 174g/km. Hatchbacks with the same sort of powertrains are more economical.
