Interior

What is it like on the inside?

Interiors have always been Audi’s forte, and it went back to its roots with the e-tron – combining significant screenage with actual physical buttons, and it works brilliantly. You get a highly configurable 12.3in virtual cockpit behind the wheel that has been enhanced for this latest update with more battery and charging status information.

In the centre of the dash is a 10.1in touch screen that’s nice and responsive but does feature a few too many fiddly menus. Luckily, below said screen are several banks of physical switches for the air-con, heated seats, drive modes etc. Well done, Audi. Shame about those capacitive buttons on the steering wheel.

There are plenty of premium materials, with lots of Audi’s Alcantara-like Dinamica around. That’s apparently made using artificial leather and a high proportion of recycled polyester, and there are further nods to sustainability with Econyl (a material made from old fishing nets and carpet scraps) deployed for the carpets and floor mats. Plenty of space for adults in the rear seats too thanks to a handy ‘foot garage’ notch cut into the underfloor battery. Rear-visibility isn’t fantastic, but the rear-facing and 360-degree camera system is, so it’s never a problem.

You get more kit as standard after the update too, with the base spec S including a panoramic glass roof, a funky-shaped heated steering wheel, sports seats with 14-way electrical adjustment, a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, a head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and wireless phone charging.

RS models bring the option of things like Nappa leather upholstery, massage seats, extra ambient lighting, wood or carbon fibre trim, RS-specific dials and even night vision.

What about luggage space?

Worth pointing out, because the e-tron GT has a very useful 405 litres of boot space (that shrinks to 350 in RS models), although it’s a rather long and flat space with a small bootlid not a full hatch. You also get an extra 81 litres of space in the nose.
