What should I be paying?

The base price is £67,992. But with more than 100 options and accessories on the list, few will pay that.

The car driven here will be about £85,000, the most significant extras being the Ohlins dampers with separate reservoirs and Eibach springs at £6,900, uprated brakes at £3,900 and an LSD at £1,194. The selectable engine map, taking it from 260 to 305bhp, is £1,800 and surely everyone will. Similarly its adjustable traction control, £510.

There are three tyre choices as well as three damper setups. You can get a winch, and 'roof' boxes to go over the engine. You can spec it as a track day lapper, or a global overland adventurer, or a road sportster… or a hilarious everyday shopping car.

The Nomad 2 is easier to look after than its predecessor. For instance the air filter is quickly accessible, and many service parts are straight from the Ford catalogue. 
It's likely you'll get much of the price back when you come to sell it. Ariel recently bought a Nomad 1 for its museum, and had to pay more than the price it was when new.
