Review: the MOPAR Fiat 124 Abarth

Another story about the 124? Now what?

Five letters, that’s what: MOPAR. When FCA first told us last year there was going to be some tuning parts for the Fiata, it wasn’t the most exciting of announcements. The press release was all mudflap this and sticker package that, not the laundry list of go-faster goodies we were after.

Disappointing. So?

So at the US launch, a few days after the European press drive, the company showed – then invited us to thrash it without mechanical sympathy around an autocross course – a Fiata loaded down with new fun bits from Mopar.

Such as?

A super raspy cat-back performance exhaust, strut tower and rear tunnel braces, new front control arms and a turbo blow-off valve. All of which made the already hilariously flickable car even more fun. And by fun I mean faster, better sounding, more controllable and more precise.

This is where you tell us it’s US only, right?

Not so fast. If they are going to be available in the US, you can bet they will shortly be available in the rest of the world  - officially or otherwise – shortly after.

How much are they likely to cost?

Dunno yet. The prices haven’t been released. But we will let you know when they are. One thing’s for sure – you are going to want some or all of them on your Fiata. They make an already very good car great. Watch out for more announcements soon.
