This wild 42ft ‘Learmousine’ is heading to auction

Always fancied your own private plane but hate flying? Well, here’s your answer – the 42-foot ‘Learmousine’ that’s heading across the block at Mecum Auctions’ May sale. Eye-catching thing, isn’t it?

The Limo-Jet does actually use a real Learjet fuselage – but one that has been transformed into a completely road legal vehicle.

The project to convert it into a limo was led by Dan Harris and was completed by Chicago-based firm Exotic Coach after two years of research and development. It uses a custom steel skeletal frame and is powered by a Chevrolet Vortec V8 with 400bhp. The old jet engines now house huge speakers that play jet engine sound effects and the rear wing folds in to help fit into the tightest of parking spaces (kinda).

The wheels are custom 28-inch units that look tiny compared to the full-size jet, and inside there’s some very tasteful – but very fake – red carbon fibre, as well as a Showtime Audio 17,000-watt audio/visual system with a 42-inch TV and many speakers.

It’ll apparently seat up to 18 guests and the listing includes a custom 44-foot trailer along with a 2015 Chevrolet 2500 HD pickup that can tow the thing. Get rid of that, though, and just drive the jet whenever you need to pop to the shops.

The Learmousine was first put up for auction around this time last year but didn’t sell, so now might just be your time to grab a bargain. Thoughts, Internet?
