Welcome to the inside of Peugeot's fictional boat

Peugeot partners with shipbuilder to "herald the future of powerboating". Yes, really

Published: 08 Dec 2017

Have you ever wondered what Peugeot’s novel iCockpit interior would look like IN A BOAT? Well, wonder no more because the French carmaker’s partnered up with shipbuilder Beneteau to create the ‘Sea Drive Concept’, which they say heralds “the future of power-boating” by illustrating “a new way of designing a boat’s steering station”. Hmmmnn.

Unveiled at the Nautic Paris Boat Show 2017 last week, the concept was designed and built by the Peugeot Design Lab and aims to combine the aesthetic and functionality of the iCockpit interior (as seen in the 3008 and 5008) with Beneteau’s ‘Ship Control’ tech, which gives control over “on-board lighting, air conditioning, navigation, battery and fuel level checks, electrical and bilge pump management, HiFi and engine speed and revs”.

You get the characteristic tiny steering wheel, a 17in touchscreen and a heads-up display-style flip-up screen in the driver’s (captain’s?) eyeline for navigational info. Toggle switches either side of the steering wheel give quick access to set functions.

Pretty flash, no?
