Want to buy a boat in the shape of a Fiat 500? Here’s your chance
You want a 500-shaped boat? Got ninety-six grand? All aboard...
This is a limited-edition boat inspired by the Fiat 500, and yes, that was a sentence you have just read. Welcome to 2024, where the city car icons of the past are now... amphibious.
The snappily-titled ‘Car 500 Off-Shore’ is very much not Fiat 500-sized, measuring in at around the same length as a BMW 3 Series: 4.7 metres long.
It does however, get the Fiat 500's rounded headlights, wing mirrors and imitation half-wheel arches (as well as the city car's wheel and rear view mirror), and you'll get two trims to choose from: the turquoise Puglia edition or the peachy Miami edition.
Up to five people can board 500 Mc500Face, and Fiat tells us there's a pair of reclining sunloungers out back, a small swimming platform and a hand shower.
It'll apparently hit peak speeds of 24mph - around 21 knots, for those of you familiar with marine-speak - via a 113bhp outboard engine.
It’s a collaboration between Fiat and Italian entrepreneur Antonio Pietro Maria Galasso, and just 500 will be available, with each costing - hold your breath - £96,780. That's each, not for the entire run.
However, it'll be available for hire on the Amalfi Coast or in Miami, with a 30-minute sunset tour setting you back £342 (€400).
“There truly is nothing more La Dolce Vita in life than this," said Fiat UK boss Damien Dally. "The Fiat 500 is a design recognised the world over, but I must admit I never thought I’d see that iconic silhouette floating on the Amalfi Coast." Quite.
