There’s a new world record for fastest snowboarder towed by a car
Looking for a niche world record? This'll be your new favourite stat to break out down the pub…
Brit snowboarder Jamie Barrow has set a niche new world record for ‘fastest speed on a snowboard towed by a vehicle’. Erm, Rule Britannia?
Start telling your mates this stat down the pub and we guarantee at least one person will pipe up and tell you they could do better. The highest speed Barrow reached? 131.11mph. Yeah, not actually bad that.
The car used for the run on the frozen Tisleifjorden lake near Gol in Norway was an Audi e-tron GT, so imagine how quick he could have gone if he’d have requested an RS.
We joke of course. That speed on a snowboard takes some serious bravery, and high winds and a bumpy surface meant that Barrow actually had two high-speed crashes at above 100mph. Ouch.
To set the official speed record, Barrow recorded two runs that averaged just over 117mph. TG salutes you, sir.
