This funky lifesize sculpture of a Porsche 934 just sold for over £200k
Yes, we know, you can buy a real Porsche for less
The Porsche 934 was introduced in 1976 as a racing version of the turbocharged 930, built to compete in Group 4. The wiry thing you see above is also a Porsche 934, only this wasn't built to take on Group 4 because that's not a thing anymore.
No, it was built by a sculptor back in 2022 and shown off at the 2022 Milan Design Week, before a world tour and finally now, a sale. Yes, this admittedly cool-looking, life-sized Porsche 934 model has just sold for £201,000 at auction. Jaw, very much meet floor.
Two hundred big ones gets you into very fast, very real Porsche 911s, of course. Heck, it'll even get you into a real Porsche 934. Guess that's the art world for you.
Collecting Cars, the auction house that sold the sculpture to a private Chinese collector, said it attracted 218 bids over seven days before settling on that massive sum.
Originally designed by Benedict Radcliffe, the wire-frame 934 features 32mm steel tubes shaped like yer favourite Jaegermeister hot rod, complete with BBS wheels shod in Avon tyres. So, this, or a real 930 Turbo?
