MB&F is releasing eight new watches themed after children’s novels
Priced at circa £170,000 each, headline acts include The Jungle Book and Robin Hood
Swiss luxury watchmaker Maximilian Busser and Friends (MB&F) has just released a new collaboration with engraver Eddy Jaquet, resulting in eight unique timepieces themed around various children's novels. Those include The Last of the Mohicans, Treasure Island and Robin Hood. Yep, we’re sold.
Based on the Legacy Machine Split Escapement (LSME) for its large surface, these watches are storyboards displaying illustrations penned by Jaquet.
In the Jungle Book version, for instance, Jaquet has recreated a scene where the main characters are centred around Mowgli, who in turn is curled up in Rama’s (his adoptive canine father) paws. Meanwhile, in The Three Musketeers edition, it’s a mock-up of 12 people sword fighting on a balcony.
With each example, the corresponding novel has been engraved onto the LMSE’s dial plate, which is then refurbished in 18k white/gold and housed in a stainless steel case. The bezels and black sundials are thinner than standard too, leaving more room for the clock faces to shine.
The price for each is set at £141,000 plus local tax, so you’re looking at nearly £170,000 on these shores. We’re hoping Jaquet’s next project is a recreation of Ice Cube’s stare-off scene with Jonah Hill in 22 Jump Street. Any other ideas for him to consider, readers?
