Caterham is celebrating its 50th anniversary with this limited edition watch
Brit sportscar builder teams up with Vertex Watches. Sadly doesn’t design the lightest watch on the market
We have to say, we were very much hoping that Caterham’s latest foray into the watch world would produce the lightest thing you could possibly wear on your wrist. What better way to pay tribute to the brilliant little Seven, after all?
Alas, what we have instead is the limited-edition MP45 C50 watch. Developed in collaboration with fellow Brit brand Vertex Watches, it’s a 40mm monopusher with a ‘Tachymeter Timing Dial’ that allows users to measure speed based on the time elapsed over a fixed distance.
Just 50 individually numbered watches will be built to celebrate Caterham’s 50th anniversary this year, and each one will come in a custom Pelican case with a choice of three straps – leather, rubber and nylon.
Each one will cost a not insignificant £3,450, but there’s some good news if you’re planning on wearing it while driving your Seven in the pouring rain – it’s waterproof to a depth of 100m. Should be just about able to cope with an English summer’s day, then.
