  • BULLETS

    ArtyA's Son of a Gun contains genuine bullets wedged into the case to form a dial. They're small-calibre and hopefully free of gunpowder, but you do wonder what airport security will make of it when you go through the metal detector at Heathrow...

  • HELICOPTERS

    Meccaniche Veloci's Only One collection consists of limited-edition watches made from parts of helicopters, racing cars, bikes and aeroplanes. It includes the Quattro Valvole 44 Huey, with metal salvaged from a tail boom of the American attack helicopter.

  • MUSTANGS

    Bremont used real parts from a USWWII Mustang plane for the P-51 range. Specifically, a P-51K-10, a 1944 Pacific war veteran nicknamed ‘Fragile but Agile', piloted by Lt Bert Lee Jr, with two confirmed kills.

  • SPITFIRES

    Bremont's Spitfire EP120 sold out instantly. Like the Mustang watches above, each used bits of an actual Supermarine Spitfire, from a donor plane with a combat record of seven kills that was later used in the 1969 Battle of Britain film.

  • MOON DUST

    Romain Jerome uses genuine specks of Moon dust, somehow wrestled from NASA, combined with natural pigments to create the dial. The Moon Dust collection also uses fragments of the Apollo 11 spaceship, fibres from a spacesuit and bits of Soyuz capsule.

  • OLD CARS

    Scalfaro, in a partnership with Giotto Bizzarrini, has announced 250 watches made with tiny bits and pieces from Nick Mason's Ferrari 250 GTO, which Bizzarrini originally engineered in the early Sixties. Let's hope they didn't unscrew anything too important...
