A watch collection to make your friends green with envy

Introducing the Captain Cook collection from Rado, made for modern explorers

As an iconic Swiss watchmaker, Rado prides itself on being a master of materials. By wearing one of its sleek timepieces, imbued with unrivalled design and innovation, you will feel the difference. Hence its magnificent Captain Cook collection, drawing on all the great elements that made the 1962 original a roaring success, and using signature materials that have appeared on favourite Rado models through the years.

It’s a collection that blends a deferential nod to tradition with an unabashed embrace of innovation and vibrancy. It’s not a watch made just to be looked at. It was made to be worn as you explore new boundaries, whether on four wheels or two feet. Read on to find out just what makes this collection, and its new companion piece the Captain Cook Bronze, so special.

Primarily, the triumphant Captain Cook collection is a bigger, bolder reinterpretation of an original model from the 1962 Rado archives. As the name suggests, it’s made for the modern explorer. With a mix of materials including high-tech ceramic and sapphire crystal, finished in a distinguished dark green with rhodium-coloured accents, this watch is the perfect companion for adventure. The Swiss-made C07 automatic movement allows the Captain Cook up to 80 hours of power reserve, making it ever the reliable timekeeper.

The original concave turning bezel now benefits from a durable high-tech ceramic inlay. While the original Captain Cook had a black dial and bezel, the new ceramic bezel inlay appears in glossy black – the colour first used on the groundbreaking Integral from 1986. The famous moving anchor symbol, which is now a feature of all Rado automatic watches, has a new ‘60s inspired ruby background. It represents quality and precision just as it did in 1962. These new models feature the more powerful Swiss made, high quality C07 movement with extended 80-hour power reserve – a must for modern wearers.

And personalising your style has never been so easy thanks to the new Rado Easy Clip System, which allows you to change your three-link stainless steel bracelet for a rice grain bracelet, or any leather strap or Nylon Nato style strap, easily and without using any tools.

A breath of fresh air

The Rado Captain Cook Bronze Automatic makes a fine companion piece, with its striking, muscular good looks and its lush green and earthy bronze tones. The perfectly toned body is a combination of a bronze case, box-shaped sapphire crystal, bronze bezel with high-tech ceramic insert and a titanium case back with more sapphire crystal. The dark green leather strap offers the perfect finish for such a handsome specimen.

Like its cousin, The Captain Cook Bronze’s smooth operation is balanced by its impressive stamina. Both are provided by the high-quality, Swiss made Rado calibre 763 movement, which offers up to 80 hours of precision power before it needs to be worn or wound. The Captain Cook Bronze is also now available with the Nylon Nato style strap, so whichever model you opt for, you can enjoy so many different choices.
