Wallpapers: Ferrari California T vs Porsche 911 Turbo

Decorate your desktop with a pair delicious £150,000 supercabrios from Stuttgart and Maranello

Published: 24 Jul 2015

Top Gear magazine recently pitched Italy against Germany in a battle of the £150,000 super-cabrios.

Checking the weather was set fair, we popped up the wind deflectors and headed to Devon for a drop-top shootout between the newly turbocharged Ferrari California T and the twin-turbo Porsche 911 Turbo.

The revised California is the newsmaker. With its new 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8, it’s the first turbo-engined Fezza since the F40. But unlike its grandpappy, it's been 'charged as much in pursuit of economy as performance.

That said, the Cali is nigh-on as quick as the hairy chested F40: both will do 0-124mph in 11-point-something seconds. Progress, eh?

The 911 Turbo, meanwhile, might get the Porsche purists grumbling (four-wheel drive? Turbos? Double-clutch gearbox? The heresy!), but it's no denying it's a proper physics-bending brute. By our stopwatch it clocked 0-60mph in three seconds flat, with 100mph arriving just 3.7 seconds after that.
