Wallpapers: Ferrari 488 Spider in Italy

Gift your desktop with a snap of Ferrari’s flamboyant drop top on a jaunt around Rimini

It didn’t take long for Ferrari to lop the top off its new 458 replacement, the 488 GTB, revealed as it was at this year’s Frankfurt motor show.

It’s as stiff as the coupe it’s spun from; a massive step on from its predecessor as it’s a full 23 per cent more rigid than the 458 Spider it replaces.

Quick too. Thanks to the same 661bhp, 560lb ft twin-turbocharged V8 as the 488 GTB, Ferrari claims it’s not enough to dent the coupe’s 3.0sec 0-62mph time – even when the kerbweight is up 50kg at 1525kg. It’ll also hit 124mph from standstill in 8.7sec and not let up until 203mph.

Ferrari has reimagined its V8 thanks to the wonderful technology of turbos – a feat that has simultaneously slashed CO2 and fuel consumption – yet that hasn’t stopped your cries of "what does it sound like?", or "how crisp is the throttle response?" or indeed, "it’s not as good as my Golf GTI V5”.

Click these blue words and let Jason Barlow answer all those questions and more. When you’re done, hop back here and grab a free desktop wallpaper from the selection above.

All you have to do is click the full screen/make-it-big icon in bottom-right of the gallery above, scroll through the picture that takes your fancy and then save the super hi-res image. Prego.
