Volvo and Polestar Performance news - Short and Swede - 2009

Published: 17 Jul 2009

Who remembers fast Volvos? The famous 'R' brand has been dormant for a while now, so until it gets properly lairy again, the Swedish firm is offering a performance upgrade for all cars with a D5 turbodiesel engine.

The power pack is being sold in collaboration with Polestar Performance, which runs an ethanol-powered C30 (pictured) in the Swedish Touring Car series (apparently it does exist).

So for £650, you can boost your V70, XC70 or S80 by a massive 20bhp, while keeping your warranty safe and valid. The pack is available from 1 August, and on the XC60 from later this year.

Wow, 20bhp! Best tell your grandad to keep a tight hold of the wheel. This could be the quickest he's ever been. He might even get the caravan a bit sideways...
