Volkswagen Tiguan R Line news - Tiguan: a bit less boring - 2009

Published: 15 Apr 2009

Unless you're the sort of person who finds concrete cladding wildly entertaining, you'll probably concede that the VW Tiguan is lacking a bit of visual punch. Any visual punch, in fact.

So what do you think of this, the Tiguan R Line? In a bid to add a little muscle to its small soft-roader, VW has treated the Tig to a new bodykit - deeper front splitter, fatter side sills and a small boot spoiler - big new wheels, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and some almost-bucket seats.

Unfortunately, there's no extra power for the R Line, so you're stuck with the choice of a pair of 2.0-litre turbodiesels or VW's 197bhp 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine.

It'll go on sale in June, with prices starting at £24,635. Are you even a little bit interested? What do you mean you fell asleep at the end of the first sentence?
