Volkswagen is offering 48-hour test drives of the Touareg
Because once you’re in it, you won’t want to get out
Volkswagen is offering potential customers the chance to test drive the Touareg for 48-hours. Yep, you read that correctly, you can now experience two whole days in Volkswagen’s premium, flagship SUV. The only problem is, you won’t want to give it back.
The Touareg can be specced with a dynamic, 335bhp 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that will propel the car to 62mph from a standstill in just 5.9 seconds. Alternatively there’s a choice of 228bhp or 282bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel engines, both of which offer outstanding fuel economy when connected to the standard eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox.
All Touaregs also come with permanent 4MOTION four-wheel drive to offer maximum traction in all weathers. A centre differential lock with asymmetric dynamic torque distribution can then divert the majority of drive to either the front or rear to ensure excellent off-road ability. Wherever you choose to explore, the Touareg has you covered.
On-road, one of the optional adaptive air suspension systems combines with electro-mechanically adjustable anti-roll bars and active four-wheel steering to eliminate body roll and provide exceptional manoeuvrability at low speeds. It really is something to experience.
Another string to the SUV’s bow is practicality. The five-door, five-seat Touareg will swallow 810 litres of luggage with the seats up and a huge 1,800 litres with the rear seats down. With 48-hours to test the Touareg – why not try your best to fill it up?
On the outside, the Touareg features a wide stance with a low, purposeful roofline. The R-Line trim level brings with it sporty, body-coloured bumpers and side sills as well as fantastic-looking 20-inch ‘Nevada’ wheels as standard.
The top of the range new Black Edition and the lower-priced SEL Tech trims available shortly also include a distinctly premium interior that puts the Touareg in a different league to its rivals. At its heart is the stunning Innovision Cockpit with Active Info display. This is Volkswagen’s flagship infotainment system and features a massive 15-inch glass touchscreen that flows beautifully into a 12-inch, fully customisable digital instrument display.
Elsewhere inside is multi-zone climate control and heated seats as standard, and the panoramic sunroof and 30 different ambient light settings are available as optional extras. The Volkswagen Touareg really is all the car you’ll ever need. Plus, the new SE trim available shortly brings with it a lower entry-level price point from £46,145*, making the Touareg even more accessible than before.
