What the truck? Meet the modified 3cyl Mitsubishi Minicab with a manual gearbox
This wild Kei truck built in Florida might just be the best thing you'll see all week
“Lamborghinis are played out – this is where it’s at,” said TG’s Rob Dahm while strapped comfortably into the passenger seat of perhaps the greatest thing you’ll see this week.
And that’s a modified 1991 Mitsubishi Minicab Kei truck, built by Shawn Bassett, owner of Attacking The Clock Racing; a modifying shop based in Florida.
Bassett said it’s “stupid”, but Top Gear heartily disagrees – this tiny, angry little tyke is brilliant. It’s got a tiny three-cylinder engine. A four-speed manual gearbox. Four-link rear and fully adjustable front suspension.
Plus: big rear diffuser! A massive rear wing! And the ambition to one day get an engine powerful enough to activate said rear wing! Shawn dailies his Kei truck, so click play on the video above to reconsider every motoring choice you’ve made so far.
