Watch the world's biggest ever burnout

Published: 07 Jan 2015

Forget grandiose fireworks displays, unenthusiastic renditions of Auld Lang Syne and vast quantities of budget champagne - this, people of the Internet, is how you usher in a new year.

And ‘this' is what it looks like when 103 Australians unite in a smokey, tyre-tearing, simultaneous burnout. Attendees of the Summernats car festival in Canberra set the World Record on January 1st, beating their own, two-year-old record by 35 cars.

Twenty witnesses were stationed amongst the cars, each tasked with ensuring every entrant's burnout met Guiness's specifications. In the end, four cars were excluded, bringing the total down to 103 from 107.
