Watch a R/C car do 188mph

It's not just John Hennessey who's pushing the boundaries of insane car fastness. A man called Nic Case is testing the automotive limits, too, just on a much smaller scale.

Using his home-built ‘R/C Bullet', Nic's just broken his own world record for the ‘Fastest Battery-Powered RC Car' at a slightly terrifying speed of 188mph. Yes, this two-foot-long electric car is faster than an Audi R8.

Nic's Bullet is quite different to the old Tamiya that you used to headbutt against the skirting board as a kid. It's basically a 1:10th scale model of a land speed record car. A baby Bloodhound, if you will.

It's got four-wheel-drive, was developed in a wind tunnel for a high-downforce, low drag set up and runs carbon fibre wheels, just like a Koenigsegg One:1. And if you hit play above, you'll hear that at full chat it sounds like an F1 car from the good old days.

However fine the engineering, seeing a minute car doing nearly 200mph never gets less than terrifying...
