Watch: THAT plane scene from Furious 7

Published: 06 Mar 2015

Hands up who remembers The Fast and the Furious? It was a sleeper hit, with modest action, a small heist plot and a few drag races. The cast was practically unknown, and mostly it was about an insanely bright orange Toyota Supra.

Fast forward to Fast and Furious 7, and you've got an all-star car, a budget that could buy a small, nearby galaxy, and CARS JUMPING OUT OF PLANES.

In celebration of this utter excess, may we present to you a newly released extended clip from Fast and Furious 7, set for release on April 3 this year. In this extended clip, you'll see practically everyone who's ever starred in a FF film strapped into a car, aboard a carrier jet.

The jet is airborne. The drivers are apprehensive. The jet doors open, reverse gears are selected, and... well, just watch. Just suspend your disbelief and rejoice in a few minutes of gratuitous action.

It's a clip that raises many, many questions. Why are they keeping such a firm hold of their steering wheels? Is it really necessary to burn rubber when REVERSING OUT OF A PLANE? Do parachutes work for cars? Why are we analysing this so literally?

Anyhow. We'll have much, much more from Fast and Furious 7 in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to TopGear.com. In the meantime, tell us which your favourite instalment is, your favourite car from the franchise, and your favourite gratuitous gear-shift. There are, it's fair to say, a few from which to choose.
