Video: ride on board a Hot Wheels car
This is what it’d look like if you were small enough to drive a toy car
If a Hot Wheels car were to be Euro NCAP crash tested, it’d score a bajillion.
For decades, kids have been smashing the titchy toy cars into lengths of finely polished skirting boards, rattled them around kitchen sinks, torched them on barbeques and even thrown the ones they didn’t like out of second-storey windows. Well, this particular author may have.
Yet, no matter the torturous track or situation they're subjected to, a quick rub down on a t-shirt and spin of the wheels and magically they're good to go again. But what would it be like to actually drive one?
Well, we haven’t gone as far as putting our smallest Top Gear staff member in front of Wayne Szalinski’s ray gun and slotted them in the driver’s seat. But some clever people have strapped a GoPro camera to the top of a Hot Wheels car and sent it down a wild track – including jump, loop and swimming pool – giving you a first-person view like nothing else.
Check it out for yourself above.
