Video: it's a breakdancing monster truck

Monster trucks are big, cumbersome things. The clue is in their name. So watching one squirrel around doing a glitzy routine of massive jumps, huge backflips, one-wheel endos, four-wheel-steer drifts and a moonwalk , and before pulling off one of the most incredible saves from certain disaster, is simply a feast for your eyes.

So, click play above and prepare for your eyes to be feasted. It's footage from the recent Monster Jam at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York, where Son-uva Digger went all b-boy on the crowd. Seriously, this is the sort of exhibition you’d expect from a dog at Crufts, not from a three-metre wide, three-metre tall, five-tonne, 1,500 horsepower monster truck.

The man with the Level Expert driving skills who was at the wheel of Son-uva Digger was Ryan Anderson. He's the son of Dennis Anderson, the world-famous pilot of Grave Digger – probably the most influential and iconic monster truck of all time. 

With an alcoholic 8.0-litre supercharged V8 engine sending its 1,500bhp through 66-inch tyres (weighing half a tonne each), the control that Ryan has over the Willys-bodied monster truck is insane. He's constantly teetering on the edge of ‘schucks-that’s-not-gone-well’, by effortlessly fanging around on two wheels, doing endos and hovering it on one tyre. It makes the parallel park that we nailed earlier seem a bit lame. 

It was such a good run, it scored a near-perfect 9.9 out of 10 – giving him mad props in the Monster Jam community and also taking away the record for the longest monster truck moonwalk of all time. Now, excuse us while we go and attempt something similar in a Suzuki Ignis...
