Video: car criminal slices open a Porsche’s fabric roof, hops inside
London police hunt scissor-wielding, 911-hating thief
Car crime is galling enough, even if it’s merely a high-spirited student nicking a hubcap from a battered Suzuki Wagon R.
But when said car crime involves slicing open the roof of an old(ish) Porsche 911, it’s positively heartbreaking.
Police in London’s exclusive Mayfair district are seeking witnesses after the above footage emerged of a scissor-wielding car crim hacking his way through the fabric top of a 911 cabrio.
As the video shows, the light-fingered burglarist then hops through his newly created aperture, liberating the Porsche of its internal possessions before escaping – to add insult to roof-based injury – with a firm jump on the vast spoiler.
At the time of writing, the rotten robber hasn’t been identified. If you’ve got any leads, please contact The London Rozzers, c/o Scotland Yard etc etc.
If, however, you can identify exactly what that Porsche is, please inform us in the comment boxes below. Best guesses in the TG office point to a 964, but one that’s far from stock. Or a 930 Turbo with a few additions?
And if you happen to be reading, Mr Roof-Slicing Pilferer, consider this: you’re the reason for the rise of the folding hard-top. You’re the reason for the Renault Megane and Peugeot 307 CCs. Consider that before you offend again.
