Switzer GT-R hits 250mph

Woah. Just yesterday we showed you the astonishing McLaren P1's performance statistics, but here's another little stormer to keep your speed senses tingling. Modifying company Switzer has taken a Nissan GT-R... to 250mph.

Well, 249.93mph, to be precise. That's 402.23km/h, and it's come courtesy of ‘Goliath': a 1700bhp modified Nissan GT-R with enough venom to dissuade future generations of human to create yet more reality television. It is horrendously fast, and horrendously powerful.

What's more, this Nissan GT-R has apparently been built to be a comfortable, street-legal car. There's climate control, cruise control and a sound system. Though judging by that ferocious soundtrack, that last item may become redundant.

Have a watch of the video - it hits the magic 250mph mark in just 22.602 seconds. Whichever way you look at it, that's quick. To put it into perspective, the current Guinness World Record for a standing mile in a street car stands with Johnny Bohmer's 1700bhp Ford GT - he recorded a whopping 283.232mph at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida late last year.
