New Toyota MR2, is that you? Take a closer look at the FT-Se Concept
Here's everything you need to know about Japan's electric Porsche Cayman rival
This is the Toyota FT-Se: nothing to do with share indexes, everything to do with driving fun. It’s an electric sports car of course, imagining a near future of what a GR-branded, two-seater lightweight could look like, and what it could offer using next-gen technology. Like Toyota’s clever ‘prismatic’ batteries that offer a greater range and quicker charging over what’s currently available.
The idea with the FT-Se is for the all-wheel-drive setup to have a rear-bias, not just for better traction, but also for better cornering, more driver confidence and of course, to allow some sideways lunacy. Sounds good to us.
Toyota has indicated the Nürburgring will be one of the key battlegrounds for the FT-Se, and although they’ve not released official figures, we can expect a 0-62mph time of around three seconds and an estimated top speed of 155mph.
Top Gear magazine’s Tom Ford gives us all the details of what could be Toyota’s new MR2.
