Is this the new parking world record?

Published: 14 Jan 2015

Ali vs Frazier, Hagler vs Hearns, Lewis vs Tyson... all fade into insignificance when compared to Yue vs Moffatt. Yes folks, the battle for the tightest parallel parking record in the world is hotting up.

Some context. In 2012, a man called Han Yue managed to swing his car around and parallel park into a space with just 15cm to spare. A year later, another man called Alastair Moffatt decided he could do much, much better, and landed a significant blow by parallel parking into a gap with just 8.6cm of room.

Excited yet? Well, late last year at the China Drift Championship, Yue struck back - he managed to park his Mini into a gap with just 8cm to spare. And probably thought it'd never be bettered.

Now it's the Return of the Moffat. Last week, Al managed to swing a standard Fiat 500 - barring a disconnected ESP and pumped up tyres - around into a spot with just 7.5cm to spare. This new attempt is still awaiting verification from the Guinness World Records team, but could it be the deciding blow? Can you handle the suspense anymore?

Either way, we get the message chaps, you can both park.
