New Merc C63 AMG: is this you?
Footage has emerged of a quartet of Mercedes C-Class models hotfooting it around the Nürburgring (where else?), and there is every possibility that they are the new C63 AMG versions.
This is Good News, because the C63 AMG is the C-Class you've been waiting for. And as you'll hear from the video, there is the distinct rumble only an AMG Mercedes can muster.
They look mighty quick, too, though of course no power or acceleration information is available just yet. What we do know however, is that the upcoming C63 AMG will be powered by AMG's brand sparkly new 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8, soon to be seen in the upcoming AMG GT supercar.
In that car, this V8 will push out a very healthy 510bhp and a whopping 479lb ft of torque, thanks to a pair of turbos nestled within the ‘hot V' between the cylinder banks. That turbo configuration means they have a shorter, easier path to work their magic, meaning more oversteer and, we suspect, more noise.
AMG's new V8: all you need to know
You'll notice that the C63 - if that really is it - does indeed feature both of these things.
We'll bring you more as we get it. Of course, we're still mourning the loss of AMG's old naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8, surely one of the finest V8s to have ever been built. This new one sure has a lot to live up to...
