MG: 'elements' of the wild EXE181 concept will feed into real production cars
“We’re never not looking at opportunities to do cool things,” design boss tells TG. Watch this vid for the full story
This is the MG EXE181, and it’s both a tribute to the 1957 MG EX181 land speed car, plus a streamlined 100th birthday present from MG to… itself.
It’s just a concept, of course, but one that'll drip-feed elements of... itself into MG's future production cars.
“Absolutely 100 per cent, this is an MG,” said MG design boss Carl Gotham. “It pays tribute to the past, but it also looks forward. There are elements that also tie into what we’re doing on the production cars that are coming.”
That all sounds jolly exciting. Imagine the 496bhp underpinnings of the MG Cyberster GT with this swoopy, single-seat body on top. That’d be quite a statement production car. Probably quite unlikely too, but have a watch of the video and let us know which elements of the EXE181 you’d like to see on future MGs…
