Manthey’s GT3 RS could go *eight seconds* faster around the Nürburgring than the standard car
A seriously fast car becomes faster… and serious-er
A couple of years ago, Porsche set a rather blistering lap time around the Nürburgring in its 992-gen 911 GT3 RS of 6m 44.848s (on the previously standard shorter route). That didn’t make it the outright fastest car, but heck, it’s still seriously fast.
And it’ll get seriously faster still. Using some complicated maths, the new Manthey 911 GT3 RS – unveiled last week – could possibly shave eight seconds off that time which’ll… still make it second to the Mercedes-AMG One. But heck, around 6m 36s is lightning. And eight seconds is an age in lap times.
All this in a car with no more power over the not-at-all-standard Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Instead, it could achieve that time using nothing but the power of air and fancy dampers and cool aero-disc wheels and a wing that’d look right at home on a private jet.
There’s (not literally) a tonne of additional aerodynamic work – roof fins, DRS, a rear diffuser, flatter underbody and so on – together with better spring rates and better brakes. Which should help a Manthey hotshoe lighter on their feet around the Green Hell.
