Listen to the new BMW M4 Coupe
On the occasion of the 2014 Long Breach Grand Prix, a YouTube enthusiast called BrianZuk managed to film the exhaust note of a car purporting to be the upcoming BMW M4 Coupe. You can watch the video of it above.
Before you dive headfirst into the comments to regale us with your considered opinion though, here are some stats. The new BMW M4 Coupe - and its M3 Saloon stablemate - are running a 431bhp 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six engine, a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel-drive.
Both are capable of hitting 62mph from rest in 4.3 seconds (or 4.1s with the dual-clutch automatic gearbox) and will top out to a limited speed of 155mph. They will weigh 1500kg. They will feature advanced adaptive suspension dynamics and something called a ‘Smokey Burnout' function.
Which is fine on paper, but a significant part of a car's allure is the noise it makes. Remember, this new car has to follow in the footsteps of the E46 BMW M3 - and the M3 CSL - as well as the V8 from the last, E92-generation M3.
Have a listen and tell us - is this how the BMW M4 should sound, or should it sound like this? Or indeed, this?
