It's the apocalypse-proof drift tank

Published: 09 Apr 2015

Just discovered there's a zombie apocalypse heading your way? Fear not! We've found the perfect vehicle to tackle the end of the world head on.

It's called the Ripsaw EV-2, and might just be the fastest tracked vehicle on the planet. It also does massive skids on ice. And Top Gear needs one desperately.

Howe & Howe Technologies are the barmy people behind it. They're a firm that specialises in bonkers armoured cars and military-grade vehicles for just about anything, or anyone.

In the past, Howe and Howe has cooked up armoured fire engines that could scale the side of Etna and then put it out, robotic micro tanks for SWAT teams and even weaponised tracked wheelchairs for quadriplegic ex-WWF wrestlers who like deer hunting.

But the Ripsaw is the thing that's really tickled our fancy. With what looks like a fuselage from outer space, two whopping great tank tracks - with adjustable pneumatic suspension - and a mid-mounted 650bhp blown V8, it resembles nothing so much as Sir Killalot's daily driver.

In the video above you can see the Ripsaw in action: jumping its way over the snowy scenery, ploughing bulkhead-first into trees like an expensive weed-whacker, and, best of all, doing monster drifts on ice.

If only we'd had it for our icy super-test in this month's magazine. Next time, eh?
