Is this Electrified Sport Concept a look at a future Lexus LFA?
How best to carry the LFA's howling V10 into the electric age? Lexus is working on the answer...
As difficult second albums go, creating a follow-up to the mighty Lexus LFA is utterly unenviable. In no small part because that legendary car’s identity consisted largely of its naturally aspirated V10 engine, which made a noise that'd make an F1 car blush.
This, the Lexus Electrified Sport concept, won’t do that – but it isn’t stopping Lexus from using it to try and figure out how a future hyper-GT might at least hold a candle to its howling predecessor.
For Lexus, that means creating a connection to the driver. It’s experimenting with manual gearboxes in electric cars, a joyous interaction that flies in the face of the zeitgeist for speed and efficiency. We’re talking trick four-wheel drive too, and steer-by-wire for added agility. Mega four-figure power outputs and silly acceleration are a given, but Lexus is developing a next-generation high-performance battery that will be thinner and lighter too.
