Here are 10 brilliant sub-£20k luxury used cars we found this week

We found a £12k DB9 earlier this week, but what else is out there if you want something comfortable, eclectic and fast? These ol’ things should do it

Bentley Arnage
  • BMW M5 E39

    BMW M5 E39

A Vortech supercharged, 5.0-litre V8-powered M5 from an era of BMW design that’s impossible to ignore. Finished in a truly stunning shade of Silverstone Blue, you’ll be able to enjoy this E39’s six-speed manual transmission atop heated, memory seats and around plenty of tech that’s still relevant today. What an investment to kick off this week’s roundup with.

  • Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit

    Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit

A more relaxed option than the Bimmer, and a considerably rarer one at that. This is a Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit Limousine, with the ad stating that just 16 of these were made back in 1982. A browse over the picture gallery also confirms that this is a far superior hen-do option to the now-rinsed Humvee, so there could even be a business proposal on the cards here. Solid consumer advice there, as ever.

  • Jaguar XKR

    Jaguar XKR

We can’t shy away from bombastic V8s for too long. So here's a range-topping Jaguar XKR that’ll sing the supercharged song as well as anything out there. It’s also one of the facelifts, which is incredibly hard to find for under £20k - nor does it have any obvious mechanical errors. Quite a statement, this.

  • Bentley Arnage

    Bentley Arnage

Still eight cylinders, and still strong in performance (450bhp, 612lb ft, 155mph), but an awful lot more car for the money. From quilted upholstery to an estimated three million buttons along its central reservation, this long-wheel-base Arnage is arguably the most bang-for-buck option on this list. Though it’s closely contested by…

  • Audi RS6 Avant

    Audi RS6 Avant

More cylinders you say? Here’s a Gallardo V10-powered German thingamabob. The untrained eye would actually find it difficult to tell this RS6 has such a fiery power plant beneath that long bonnet; it looks restrained and it isn’t even a screamer. But that’s exactly what you want in a continent-blasting luxo-barge. And don’t forget: the power’s still there when you need it. All 571bhp of it.

  • TVR Chimaera

    TVR Chimaera

Kicking on into the latter half of this list, which is mostly populated with sleek, sportier metal, here’s a TVR Chimaera finished in a truly stunning shade of crimson. The interior’s ruby and magnolia-themed upholstery complements the exterior like salt does pepper, and despite turning 30 next year, has just 52,000 miles to its name. Mint.

  • Maserati Granturismo

    Maserati Granturismo

Or you can have this Maser GT. Grey isn’t the most adventurous colour in the world, but it’s worn rather well here given that there are several different shades of it applied across. People will also hear you coming from about 2,000 miles away, such is the ferocity of its naturally aspirated engine note.

  • Aston Martin DB7

    Aston Martin DB7

One of the few V12s (that sounds like a V12) you can nab yourself for this price bracket. Since this DB7 is in full-bore Vantage spec, it also comes with a five-second sprint to 62, a top speed of 184 and those circular fog lights that make 83 per cent of the world’s population weak at the knees.

  • Mercedes-AMG SL63

    Mercedes-AMG SL63

Our penultimate entry for this week looks about as devilish as Lucifer himself. That’s because it’s a blacked-out SL63 AMG that’s been dropped and (seemingly) had some extra aggressive body panels thrown on. Reckon you can get the price down a few grand with a bit of sweet talk?

  • Wildcard: Porsche Panamera

    Porsche Panamera

A proper wildcard, because you’ll be constantly torn between the way it drives, which is excellent, and the way it looks, which… isn’t. If you can put aside your pride and see the Panamera as nothing more than a tool for movement, though, you’d be in for a hell of a treat. Just ignore bystander reactions.
