Ram is recalling over 300,000 trucks in the US after six separate fires
Owners shouldn’t park in garages until their 6.7-litre Cummins diesel-engined trucks have been fixed
You know what they say about trucks. The bigger the pickup, the bigger the… recall?
Ah yes, well, Ram has just announced a fairly hefty recall of certain model year 2500 and 3500 pickups, plus 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cab trucks. Only those fitted with the 6.7-litre Cummins diesel engine are affected, and the problem is with an old generation of heater-grid relay that could cause the trucks to overheat.
There have been reports of six fires that could be related, and so Stellantis has advised owners not to park their vehicles in a garage until they have been fixed. Anyone in the US with a Ram truck that might be affected can search their VIN National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website.
A total of 306,165 Rams will be recalled in the US, with a further 21,988 in Canada.
