The new 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America edition is extremely patriotic
Blue, white and red GTS Cab arrives on the 70th anniversary of the Porsche 356 America Roadster
This is the succinctly-named Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America edition, a limited-run 992 that’ll arrive later this year for the bargain price of just $184,920.
In news that'll surprise few - what with it being called the 'America' edition - it'll only be sold in the US and arrives some 70 years after the special Porsche 356 America Roadster that’s also pictured above, and 30 years after the 964 America Roadster.
Based on the Carrera GTS Cabriolet, it gets the standard 473bhp twin-turbo 3.0-litre flat-six, though this America edition can only be paired with rear-wheel drive and Porsche’s seven-speed manual gearbox.
Porsche’s adaptive dampers are standard too, as is a sports exhaust and the Sport Chrono Package. Options on top of that bold list price include rear-wheel steering and ceramic brakes.
The big news is the look of the thing, though. The work is done by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and includes Azure Blue 356 paint inspired by the original America Roadster. There’s white RS Spyder Design wheels and Guards Red pinstriping and accents to ensure that it’s super patriotic, too.
