Meet SpeedKore’s new ‘Ghost’: a 700bhp Hellcat-engined 1970 Dodge Charger

Ghostly visage, hellish power output: SK’s latest muscle car is a V8 monster

Published: 05 Feb 2024

American restomod enthusiast SpeedKore has revealed its latest project which it dubs a ‘reimagining’ of the 1970 Dodge Charger. Though, we’d proffer it’s less a reimagining, and more a ‘inject it with hellfire and unleash’.

As such, it gets a spooky name: meet the SpeedKore ‘Ghost’, as much an ode to SK’s carbon fibre specialism as it is to outright grunt. Truly, this muscle car has a lot of... muscle.

Said flex comes via a 6.2-litre supercharged Hellcat V8 – you may have heard of it – delivering 700 wild, American horses to the rear axle in great big lumps, burning their way through a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox and carbon fibre driveshaft.

If you haven’t heard of it, you probably will now. Said engine breathes through a custom inlet manifold and out of a custom exhaust system – both crafted by SpeedKore – topped off by MagnaFlow exhaust pipes.

That’s the icing on the cake, mind: SpeedKore’s main proposition with the Ghost is the full, custom carbon fibre body, CF floor and CF wheel tubs built and cured by the company itself. Apparently the new shell “greatly” lowers the Ghost’s centre of gravity, fitted as it is to a steel chassis and 14-point roll cage.

Further underneath, there’s a new suspension setup, courtesy of a Detroit Speed double A-arm front, a four-bar diagonal link rear, and Penske coilovers all round. There are new Brembos stuffed in behind 19in and 20in wheels, and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4Ss wrapped around them.

Wrapped around the occupants is a sea of custom detailing, including carbon fibre across the dash, door and quarter panels, lots of love leather, a set of fetching classic gauges, and a 2,000-watt stereo.

The whole car’s finished in a “ghostly white finish” – hence the name – and you’ll spot a few choice exterior mods like the LED headlights, flush-mounted glass and a carbon fibre taillight panel to add a little flourish to the old timer.

“Our goal is to meld timeless design, advanced composites and reliable performance to redefine what the American muscle car should be,” said SpeedKore boss Jim Kacmarcik.
