Brits can now import right-hand drive versions of the GMC Yukon SUV and Sierra pick-up truck

It’s quite frustrating that certain cars, such as the Ford Bronco or the Mustang GT500, can’t be imported into the UK. It feels unjust. But worry not, because Sri Lanka-based Autogroup International - known for its right-hand drive conversion and import services - is attempting to change the status quo, and its latest offerings are the GMC Yukon and Sierra models.

The Yukon can be had in either standard, ‘Denali XL’ or ‘Denali Ultimate’ trim, available in a choice of 3.0-litre Duramax turbo-diesel or 6.2-litre V8 petrol engines. Other notable features include adaptive air ride suspension, full-grain leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof. You also get more on-road presence than just about anything else currently on sale in the UK, given its five-square-mile radius and all.

Sounds great, no? It ultimately means Brits have an - let's call it 'interesting' - alternative to established seven-seat luxury SUVs like the Land Rover Discovery and the Volvo XC90. It’s also currently the best-selling car in its segment across the pond, so it’ll be interesting to see how that translates to British demand.

The Sierra pickup, meanwhile, can be had as either the heavy duty ‘2500’ or the four-wheel drive ‘3500’ models. You then choose from one of four trim levels and two 6.6-litre powertrains: a Duramax turbo-diesel or a V8. You can even request an off-road suspension and lift kit on certain models - the ideal upgrade for those based within the M25. 

Regardless of which model you choose, Autogroup will also offer armour plating as an optional extra. That means you can fully bulletproof your car to keep occupants safe from the perils of said London motorway ring road.

Alongside the Yukon and the Sierra, Autogroup is also one of the few companies offering right-hand drive conversions and imports of the GMC Hummer EV, with plans to expand its lineup with the Dodge Hellcat penned in for this summer. We hope the Bronco and the GT500 join the catalogue soon, too.
