Americans: here’s your 2022 Defender Trophy Edition

You may remember that last year Land Rover North America announced a special edition Camel Trophy-style Defender with some extra off-roady bits and a Camel yellow wrap. Just 220 were built, with 90 buyers getting free entry into an ‘off road adventure’ known as the Trophy Competition.

Clearly said competition and the retro Defender were rather well-received, because there is now a new Trophy Edition for 2022. Oh, and this time it’s based on a Defender 90 – extra cool points for that. 

To be much more specific, this year’s Trophy is based on the six-cylinder 90 P400 X-Dynamic SE, with prices kicking off at $95k. Again, 220 will be offered in the US, with a further 30 for Canada this year. Extras include air suspension, Land Rover’s Off-Road Pack and Advanced Off-Road Capability Pack, a roof rack, tow bar, mud flaps, ladder and a winch.

The Trophy Competition is back too, although this year it’ll be held at the Land Rover Experience Center in Manchester, Vermont. Again there’ll be free entry for buyers of this year’s special edition (those who bought the 110 from last year can pay a $5k entry fee. Ouch) and the winning team will get entry into the Classic Land Rover Trophy Competition in the UK.
