UK’s best-selling cars of 2010 revealed

Published: 07 Jan 2011

All in all, the UK snapped up 2,030,846 new cars last year. SMMT, the organisation that supports the UK car industry also revealed that ‘diesel penetration' - no laughing at the back - rose to 46.1 per cent last year; the highest number of diesel models sold in ten years.

Average new car CO2 emissions also dropped last year, ending on 144.2g/km. To give perspective, just two years ago the average was around 157g/km, and in 2000 CO2 figures averaged at 181g/km. Soon they'll emit nothing but the soothing sound of elevator music.
