Classified ad of the week: Peel P50
You saw Jeremy and his deliciously dreadful P45 on the show, right? And then you spotted our slightly more powerful alternative here? How about this - a very clean, very red P50. Arguably the best Slightly Ridiculous Tiny Car to have ever appeared on Top Gear.
Yep, even though only 47 were built (and just 26 survive today), we've managed to track down this cheeky little number. And as Peel, the original Isle of Man-based manufacturer, says: it's "almost cheaper than walking".
When it was new, it cost just £199, and offered an Ampera-troubling 100mpg. Largely because it's a rather small, rather simple little thing. Diffused across its 54-inch by 41-inch scale and 59kg mass, there is a seat, three wheels, a solitary opening door, three-speed transmission, and a 49cc DKW bike engine.
Value-wise, the residuals look slightly less diminutive. While this one's heading to auction with no reserve, the valuers reckon it'll make around £25,000, a 12,462.8 per cent increase... And you'll have to add shipping on top, because this one's found its way to America.
Any TopGear.commers fancy the smallest production car... in the world?
